West region stakeholders discuss internally displaced persons, cholera

The administrative and security coordination meeting of the West region has been held Monday, June 6 in Bafang, Upper Nkam division under the chair of Governor AWA FONKA AUGUSTINE. The meeting that gathered all 8 senior divisional officers of the region, the regional council president Jules Hilaire Focka and security officials was aimed at reviewing mainly

  • The living conditions of internally displaced persons
  • Security issues
  • The cholera outbreak
  • Chieftaincy crisis in the region.
  • The education sector was affected by the recent teacher’s strike.

The main remark from this meeting as mentioned by the Governor was that the region has recently been enjoying a level of administrative and security stability even though this stability has to again be improved.

As major recommendations, the governor instructed administrative authorities to highly respect measures suspending the creation of chiefdoms in the region.

To resolve the recent incursions of armed men at border zones to the crisis-hit regions and the phenomenon of road robberies, Awa FONKA AUGUSTINE reassured that maximum efforts will be made to ensure the security of persons and their properties.

In the education sector, the governor ensured measures have been taken by the government to resolve the problems of teachers even though the strike hindered the academic calendar.
