CPDM MP left disfigured during May 20 celebration
The incident, CNA has learned, occurred in the Mvila division, South region of Cameroon. Biwon Bane was the theatre of events.
Elites and other inhabitants of the locality had gathered to celebrate national unity day. A disagreement between Honorable Josue Mbeyo’o and Mayor Liboire Angono took a turn for the worst with the latter reportedly throwing a whisky bottle in the face of his opponent.
The MP was quickly rushed to a health centre by witnesses where he received numerous stitches to the face.
It is reported that the assailant is in the hands of competent authorities and the case will be taken to court for appropriate sanctions to be taken.
The exact cause of the disagreement is still unknown but numerous sources say the member of parliament had expressed dissatisfaction with the way funds dedicated for the celebration of the national unity day had been used/or shared.
