FIFA to Examine African WCQ Zones
The World Football governing body, FIFA has said the disciplinary committee will on April 21, 2022, examine petitions filed by African countries that played the third and last qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
• Algeria wants the match against Cameroon to be replayed citing poor refereeing.
• Egypt also petitioned FIFA requesting the match against Senegal to be replayed saying that they played in a “terrorizing atmosphere” where Senegalese fans distracted the Egyptian players with lasers in their eyes, especially during penalty shootouts. Egypt also argued that they were subjected to racial abuses, and rocks were thrown at players during training sessions.
Other petitions against poor treatment include the match pitting Nigeria and Ghana and the match between Morocco against DR Congo.
