MINDEF Admits Strategy Against Ambazonia Forces Has Failed
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo, has announced in Bamenda, North West region that his ministry will change its approach toward Ambazonia forces in the Anglophone regions. But nothing was said about the new dynamism within the Government forces and how it would be carried out.
“I cannot give you here the details of the appropriate readjustments and actions which will be deployed without delay because in this matter, cannot go band-in-band with incantation,” Joseph Beti Assomo said in a high-level security meeting held in Bamenda on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
The Bamenda meeting came as a matter of emergency, Mr. Assomo told the Etat major of the region.
“We are here in the North West region for an emergency”
The meeting was urgent as Ambazonia forces upgraded their weaponry- it was more urgent after the forces killed 15 special elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, in Bamessing, North West region on August 16, 2021.
MINDEF said the proliferation of heavy weapons in the hands of the separatists means that they are being given human and external material support.
He also shunned lesson givers to stop pretending and support the Cameroon armed forces to eradicate the rising force of the Ambazonia forces.
More than 25 Government forces have been killed by Ambazonia fighters since September 1, 2021.
