Bafoussam Referral Hospital To Go Operational On July 17

As the date for the oeprationalisation draws near, health personnel at the regional hospital in Bafoussam, west region, have been urged to show example by taking doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The minister of public health Manaouda Malachie on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, paid working visits to the Bafoussam referral and regional hospitals.

In the presence of the Regional Governor, Awa Fonka Augustine and the Senior Divisional Officer for Mifi, Koulbout Aman David, and other regional dignitaries, public health boss during the first visit, to the construction site of the Bafoussam referral hospital, evaluated the level of progress of works on the site and appreciated its architectural structure. After visiting various services to be rendered in this hospital made up of the reception, emergency, surgery, pediatrics, gynaeco-obstetrics services, the minister also visited the administrative and technical medical services, the main information we got was that the referral hospital could go operational by July 17 this year.

At the level of the Regional hospital, during the minister’s visit, he stressed the COVID-19 vaccine and the need for health personnel to pave the way in the administration of the vaccine. It was revealed during this visit that out of 480 health workers in the hospital, only 61 have been administered the vaccine. He also evaluated the technical platform of the hospital and the working condition of various workers.

The main issues detected during this visit were; the nonfunctional unit of the hemodialysis center of the regional hospital, shortage of human resources, and the overwork at the level of the pediatrics service.
