WFNS Spotlights Young Cameroonian-born Brain Surgeon, Doctor Ignatius Esene

The World Federation of Neurological Societies, WFNS, has highlighted the indefatigable efforts of Cameroonian-born Brain Surgeon, Ignatius N. Esene, MD, M.Sc, PhD, MPH, in a mind-blowing interview that captures his works in Cameroon, Africa and Globally and underscoring his leadership skills. The exceptional character of Dr Esene is his ability to have toured the world and his decision to come back home and give back to his countrymen what he studied abroad.


In the Gazette, mention is made of the Neurosurgery Unit they created in Garoua (The first and only Neurosurgical Unit in the whole of Grand North) that came into existence after his transfer to the Grand North.
Dr Ignatius Esene was recently appointed into the Editorial Board of Acta Neurochirurgica (European Journal of Neurosurgery) and as well as an “International Scientific Endorser” for UpSurgeOn

He is the present Co-Chair of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies’ Young Neurosurgeons’ Forum, Chair of the Young African Neurosurgeons Forum, Research Equity Lead of the WFNS Global Neurosurgery Committee and Member of the WFNS Ethics and Medico-Legal Committee.
