900 students from ENS Yaoundé awaiting rapid integration process

The integration of graduates from teacher training colleges would be executed faster than before, government officials have assured student teachers. The badge to have this litmus test just graduated from the Higher teachers training college, ENS in Yaoundé.
Some 900 new teachers graduated on Thursday, October 28, 2022, in an event chaired by the higher education minister, Professor Jacque Fame Ndongo.
The graduates from both the first and second cycles of the Higher Teacher Training College spent three and two years respectively.
The laureates expressed their joy saying the journey which was full of challenges was worth taking.
“I am super excited that after two years of struggles, today marks the end of my training and the beginning of my teaching career, I am happy to be a teacher,” one of the laureates Keziah Fon told reporters.
On his part, Romeo Mengue plans to double efforts in the future to impact knowledge in his students. He is grateful to his teachers and family for their support during the training.
Months ago, the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph Le, launched the operationalization phase of the new procedure for the integration of Laureates from ENS and ENSET.
According to the official, digitalization of the process will now take a maximum of 3 months to be completed except for incomplete files, instead of two to three years in the past.
The new procedure comes after some teachers went on strike to demand for rapid integration into the public service. Months of strikes caused the government to make changes that will benefit the teachers.
It is not clear if the government will respect its engagements and carry out rapid recruitment of graduates in the public service or wait for them to die of hunger before singing them in.
Even after recruitment, there is usually an embarrassing issue of salaries not flowing into bank accounts until after a few years. This has also caused many teachers today to become beggars while working for the government.
