7th edition of Dixiades kick off in Garoua
About 1610 athletes will be competing in ten sports disciplines at the National Games which kick of in Garoua on Monday, December 18.
Delegations from all ten regions of Cameroon, attended the launching ceremony on Sunday, chaired by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona, who represented the Head of State.
The minister was accompanied by several officials including the President of the Cameroon National Olympics and Sports Committee, Col. Kalkaba Malboum and his collaborators.
The committee said some innovations have been made in the 2023 edition which include the introduction of badminton alongside the other olympic sports disciplines that already existed.
The other nine disciplines include athletics, basketball, boxing, football, weight lifting, handball, judo, wrestling, and volleyball.
The games will be played across three sites in Garoua; the Parc Boisé, CENAJES Garoua, and La Maison des Jeunes. The weeklong event will end on Friday, December 23.
