26-year-old killed over missing gas bottle and Tv
Grief has gripped a family in Bobongo in the “Village” neighbourhood of the Douala III municipality after the gruesome murder of their 26-year-old son Yannick Julio by hoodlums allegedly hired by the deceased’s neighbour, Madame Harriette Tchengang.
She accused Yannick of stealing her gas bottle and television which had been kept in their family compound following a surprised demolition exercise.
” When council agents came with caterpillars to demolish houses, many people brought their properties and kept in my house including Madame Harriette, a school proprietress in the area. They later came to collect their things and nobody complained. Madame Harriette came for hers and said her gas bottle and television were missing. I told her I did not know who owns what because the belongings were too many. She said people informed her the gas bottle and TV were inside my house. I opened the doors for her to get in and check thoroughly. She searched in vain and left furiously without uttering a word” Yannick’s mother explained with tears running down her cheeks.
Three weeks after, while in the market, Yannick’s mother says she received a phone call and her interlocutor informed her that her son had been stabbed to death.
” I didn’t know the issue was still bubbling or that it was going to take a bloody twist.” The woman cried out.
Angry youth in the vicinity who got the sad news of the killing of their friend by a group of yet to be identified hoodlums allegedly hired by madame Harriette stormed her residence setting it ablaze alongside a primary school she owns.
A fulfilled promise they made to madame Harriette who is said to have threatened Yannick Julio several times before.
Yannick’s corpse is in the mortuary pending burial while Mme Harriette and her husband are presently at the Douala Bonanjo Judicial Police for questioning.
