24th edition of University games kicks off in Garoua
The University of Garoua will host the 2024 University games from May 25 to June 1 on the Djoumassi campus.
The opening ceremony this Saturday, which will be presided over by the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, accompanied by the Governor of the North region Jean Abate Edi, will set the pace for the one-week competition.
It will be the first time the University of Garoua hosts the games. Activities will be centred around the theme: “University sport and professionalization, major assets for an entrepreneurial University.”
Preparations have been successful, with the designated commissions actively involved. The President of the National Federation of University Sports (FENASU), Prof. Roger Tsafack Nanfosso, arrived in Garoua a few days to the start of the games, and expressed satisfaction with the work done.
An atmosphere of fanfare and celebration was set on Friday, May 24, by fan clubs representing the ten regions of Cameroon. They will keep animating all through the event, with the best fan clubs awarded medals.
This year’s edition remains in the Northern part of Cameroon after the 23rd edition hosted by Ngaoundere in 2023.
