2026 World Cup qualifiers: Cameroon vs Mauritius, what you need to know

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will on Friday, November 17, face Mauritius at the Japoma Omnisports stadium in Douala at 8 pm for their first qualifying game of the 2026 World Cup.
Information from the Lions’ den has it that all 24 players called up by Rigobert Song Bahanag have answered present.
Among the players are three home-based players: Leonel Ateba of Dynamo, Éric Moursou of Coton Sports, and Franck Atsama of Bamboutos FC who respectively replaced Aboubakar Vincent, Olivier Kemen, and Harold Moukoudi all injured.
The Lions had their first training session on Tuesday evening at the Douala reunification stadium.
Friday’s encounter will be the fifth meeting between the two teams with Cameroon winning all four previous games, scoring a total of 16 goals against 1 conceded. Their last game dates back to September 3, 2011, at the Africa Cup of Nations. A game in which the indomitable Lions won 5-0.
Cameroon is in group D alongside Cape Verde, Angola, Libya, Eswatini, and Mauritius. The winner of the group will grab a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico
