2025 elections: Hon. Nintcheu’s reponse to Minister Owona’s outing on Kamto

“THE PEOPLE WILL NOT HAVE THEIR SOVEREIGNTY STOLEN”

“The statement by Mr. Gregoire OWONA, Secretary General of the CPDM (Rdpc) and Minister for over two decades, shows that the CPDM is now arrogating to itself the powers and prerogatives of the Constitutional Council and ELECAM (Elections Cameroon), whose members are almost entirely made up of its activists.

One could tolerate the rambling, nonsensical statements of Minister ATANGA Nji under the extenuating circumstance that the ministry he headed coordinated electoral processes until 16 years ago.

But this statement by Mr. Grégoire OWONA reveals that a new level has been crossed, a higher stage unlocked in the violation of citizens’ rights.

Within the FCC (Front for Change of Cameroon), this feverish statement from the Deputy Secretary General of the CPDM demonstrates that if the CPDM still had the statutory capacity to nominate a candidate, it would have nominated Professor Maurice KAMTO, who has real and very strong chances of winning the presidential election next October.

The other merit of this statement is that the CPDM, the party that has orchestrated the destruction and bankruptcy of our country for four decades, is finally coming out to confirm what the political opposition and civil society have long denounced, namely its grip on the electoral processes.

At the FCC, we call public opinion to witness that we have given Mr. Gregoire OWONA no mandate to conduct political canvassing and sound out, on our behalf, political parties that would be willing to nominate our candidate. As a reminder, the APC (Alliance for Political Change) was launched to bring together organisations and compatriots who are convinced, like us, and like Mr. Grégoire OWONA now, that Maurice KAMTO is the future president our country needs.

Mr. Gregoire OWONA, his cronies and sponsors, must know that the people are ready to demand and keep their sovereignty. And that his party and the administration that supports it must read the signs of history and return to the right side while there is still time. For our beautiful country, Cameroon.
