Tanzania shutdown five power plants due to excess energy

The Tanzanian government revealed that it was forced to shutdown five hydroelectirc stations to reduce excess electricity.

Local media reported that the main pwoer plant, Mwalimu Nyerere has been able to pwoer several cities.

“The move is to reduce excess electricity in the national grid,” the prime minister Kassim Majaliwa said.

WHile an official from the hydroelectircyt power plant revealed, “We have turned off all these stations because the demand is low and the electricity production is too much, we have no allocation now.”

This is the first time the country has been forced to shutdown power plants due to excess electricity. It usually witness shortage of electricity.

Tanzania has a population of more than 65 million people.

In Cameroon with less than 30 million people, the country has continued to suffer from power failure for decades despite having several power plants.
