Wum: Armed men set Mayor’s house on fire

Inhabitants of Wum municipality woke up Monday, October 17, 2022, to the devastating news of the burning Mayor’s residence, Dighambong Anthony Mvo.

Shock and consternation gripped them as to who might have done such an act. From the information gathered, some five armed men stormed the residence of the Municipal magistrate, located opposite GTHS Naikom. They surrendered occupants before setting the house ablaze.

It is not yet clear who carries out the arson attack and for what reasons. Wum, located in Menchum Division in the North West region, has recently been hit by a series of fire incidents. Last week, allegedly members of the Cameroon military set two houses on fire in Naikom after separatists made failed attempts to ambush a soldier.
