17 Northwest MPs spitfire, call for sanctions on Speaker’s director of cabinet
Some 17 members of Parliament of the ruling party Cameroon PPeoples Democratic Movement from the 10th legislature in the Northwest region have called for sanctions against the Director of Cabinet at the National Assembly, Abdourahim Boukar for hate speech and marginalization of Northwesterners at the National Assembly.
In a release dated September 5, 2023, the MPs expressed their dissatisfaction and the challenges they go through at the National Assembly.
They stated that some positions that were held by North West MPs in Parliament had been seized. They cited the post of the Deputy Secretary General which was held by Dr. Fonkam Azuh and the Technical Adviser to the Speaker of the National Assembly which was held by Sanji Joseph.
The Director of Cabinet at the National Assembly, Abdourahim Boukar had earlier made some controversial remarks on how positions were given at the National Assembly on August 28, 2023, at the football championship in Tokombere. he boasted how they snatched a position meant for a North West MP and handed it to the extreme north.
The MPs also noted that staff at the National Assembly from the Northwest are been sidelined in numerous appointments in the administration of the National Assembly.
“ Northwest parliamentarians are virtually absent in all the statutory and other missions of the National Assembly,” a section reads.
They condemn this act of marginalization by the Director of Cabinet and call for the reconsideration of roles and that Northwest MPs should be given posts of responsibility at the administration of the parliament.
