Adamawa: Councilors vote FCFA 3 billion for 2023

Poverty, bad roads, and insufficient schools are some of the major challenges faced by the population of the Adamawa region.

The regional councilors say they hope for decentralization to be effective in the coming year in their locality. This was during a regional council budgetary session for 2023 which was held on December 29,
aimed at evaluating the work done in the year and proposing solutions and the way forward.

The Governor of the Adamawa region, Kidadi Taguieke Boukar, chaired the end-of-year session, CNA learned.

Amongst all challenges, the Councilors debated more on the relevance of resolving the poor roads and insufficient schools in the locality.

“ The policies of the state are to fight against poverty and we have seen that this budget has included a very important aspect, the social aspect which will be undertaken within the year 2023,” the Governor explained.

To be able to realize all these projects, the Councilors voted on a budget of 3 billion FCFA
“Our budget is 3 billion, 1 billion 800 million for the construction of our region, 1 billion 200 million for functioning. This also concerns education, health, agro-pastoral, and effective decentralization,” said the president of the Regional Council, Mohamadou Dewa.

The Governor congratulated the regional executives for the work done in 2022 and encouraged them to deploy efforts to bring social amenities to the population in the coming year.

Adamawa is a division in a region lacking in development but has one of the highest numbers of voters during political polls. It is still strange how politicians use the numerical advantage of the region to deliver unfulfilled speeches. It came to a point where the politically emancipated class said, “they were not sheep” to be tossed around.
