119 MillionFCFA to be distributed to private media in Cameroon

A sum of 119 millionFCFA will be distributed by the National Commission for the scrutiny of applications for state support to private media in Cameroon for the fiscal year 2023.

This was revealed by the Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, on September 12, 2023, during the 5th regular session of the National Commission to examine requests for institutional support to private media.

During the session, the Technical Secretary of the National Commission, Ngankak Kisito, who doubles as Director of Private Media Development in Cameroon said on state media CRTV that, there are criteria for these media organs to be selected.

“The criteria are in line with the capacity of the media houses, to work with professionals that are socially protected, registered with the National Insurance Policy Fund, paying their taxes regularly, having recognized professionals, have their press cards, respect ethics and deontology,” he said.

The commission will be examining 71 requests for assistance files, 65 of them from private media and 6 blogs.
