Aboh-Ngoe Cultural And Development Association Decorates MP Fonge Julius With A Bakossi Traditional Regalia

By Nadesh E.

The Aboh-Ngoe Cultural and Development Association, ABOCUDA made up of Babubock elites on Saturday, July 24 2021 decorated Honourable Fonge Julius in the Bakossi traditional regalia. This the elites say, is to appreciate the member of Parliament for his donation of a solar panel kit and matrasses to the Babubock Health Centre in Nguti Subdivision, South West Region earlier this year, 2021.

The show of appreciation happened in Douala during the MP’s visit as a guest of honour to the association’s General Assembly.

In his welcome address to the guest, the president of the Aboh-Ngoe Cultural and Development Association, Sone Ndene explained to the MP that the Babubock community feels very special receiving donations because it has been among the neglected communities in Nguti Subdivision. He explained the Loincloth (wrapper) tied to the MP’s waist which is a traditional dressing style of the Bakossi people should always act as a reminder of the people’s gratefulness to the representative of the people.

Guest of Honour, Honourable Chief Doctor Fonge Julius delivering a word of appreciation

The member of Parliament for Kupe Muanengube II, Honourable Chief Doctor Fonge Julius accompanied by his RAINBOW Group members and other traditional authorities expressed happiness connecting with his people and creating good relationships with them.

He used the opportunity to recount that the fate of Nguti Subdivision was bestowed on him one year ago and he told himself he is a servant, son, brother, the father who knows Nguti and its problems. Therefore, he is doing his best with the team of advisers to see what they can do for Nguti Subdivision to which Babubock belongs.

He disclosed that some projects in the subdivision like the thermal plant in Nguti, the study of the Kokobuma-Babubock road, Ngwatta- Mbetta road, Mbetta-Njongo road, donations of cover 19 items and many more are being done under his supervision.

Actually, his romance with Babubock started with the situation of the conjoint twins faced by one of Babubock’s elites to which the MP started contributions with 50.000 FRS which has raised over 15million francs today in a bid to separate the twins.

However, the electrification of the Babubock Health Centre happens to be one of the first major interventions in Babubock.

In his usual fashion, the parliamentarian took out time to educate the elites, traditional authorities, on the role of his office that is often mistaken. “A member of Parliament is not a minister, not the president of a country nor an army but a lobbyist…The communities are in charge of connecting with the parliamentarian for projects to be executed…Communities are to develop their projects and submit them to the parliamentarian…For a mayor or parliamentarian to know people have a problem, the communities have to connect with them…The problems of Nguti are enormous, hence, one at a time. Aboh Ngoe should hang to their mayor and MP…” the educationist reiterated.

After his presentation came others from guests like Esong Simon, YCPDM Section president for Kupe Munanenguba II encouraging Babubock’s involvement in sub-divisional politics, former 1st Deputy Mayor of Nguti, Elad Cyprian Esua who presented the advantages of school resumption in Babubock and other neighbouring villages.

Other discussions of the General Assembly focused on future projects for the community like:

1. Water project to alleviate the village from illnesses that come with poorly treated drinking water

2. Construction of Community Hall

3. Organization of Groundbreaking crusade for cleansing of the land and many other.

4. Resumption of schools in Babubock.

5. Setting up a tournament involving all villages in the Aboh-Ngoe clan this long vacation with a prize of 500.000 FCFA.

Another person who hammered on the issue of school resumption was Larry Esong, an elite of the village and CEO of the Scoop Media Group.

“Children have missed out on education for over 5 years…Parents shouldn’t sacrifice the life and future of children to the crisis…Children must go to school and the elite must activate the resumption of school in the village…” Larry cried out.

Above all, there was the call for elites to invest in the NASCCUL (Nguti Area Synergies Cooperative Credit Union Limited) a financial institution set up by the largest elites Association comprising of all elites from Nguti Subdivision.

None from the Aboh Ngoe has invested a franc in the financial platform. The platform will have a GA in August to elect executives and so Aboh Ngoe should not miss out so to fully partake in being part of the Executives.

The General Assembly ended with merriment and cement of a good relationship between the RAINBOW political group represented by the MP and other members and the Babubock community represented by its elites.

Of course, there was fufu and black soup on the menu for the day, a meal greatly loved by the Babubock peoples which is their traditional meal.
