DOUALA-Cameroon- Saturday June 1, 2019-10:30 PM Local Time( Cameroon News Agency) Police in Yaounde have arrested the first national Vice President of Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Mamadou Mota Yacouba and 354 others, the party has revealed. The massive arrests were carried out during a protest demanding the release of the party’s national President Maurice Kamto and collaborators.

DOUALA-Cameroon- Saturday June 1, 2019-10:30 PM Local Time( Cameroon News Agency) Police in Yaounde have arrested the first national Vice President of Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Mamadou Mota Yacouba and 354 others, the party has revealed. The massive arrests were carried out during a protest demanding the release of the party’s national President Maurice Kamto and collaborators.

“Pro-Kamtoists” filled the streets of Yaounde and Douala to clamor for the release of Maurice Kamto and other political detainees.

Against all odds, the CRM supporters still came out massively despite threats and bans from administrative authorities.

While demonstrators in Douala occupied the Ndokotti neighborhood, those in Yaounde Marched around Poste Centrale.

However,were ill-treated, arrested and locked up in different cells. The peaceful protests took place in Douala, Yaounde, Bafoussam, Bagante, Nkongssamba, Bare-Bakem among other areas.

Lawyers of CRM have denounced the arrests describing it as violation of human rights and rights to protest.

The arrest of the first National Vice President, Mamadou Mota Yacouba means the second national Vice President, Tiriane Noah Nadege will now lead the party in all activities until Kamto and Mota are released or any of the two.

Cameroon Renaissance Movement has planned another protest on June 8, 2019.
