Douala: 4 Nigerian drug dealers arrested

Four men authorities say are illegal immigrants from Nigeria have been arrested by security forces in the Douala V municipality for the consumption and sale of hard drugs.

They were arrested following an operation launched by the Douala Territorial Gendarmerie group aimed at fighting against drug consumption and this led the officials to a particular apartment where the suspects resided.

“We are intensifying the fight against illegal drugs which has a negative effect on the health and also security in the town. Reason why we turned to search hidden and isolated houses which are usually used for the fabrication of these hard drugs,” Colonel Soboursou Patrick, Commander of the Gendarmerie Territorial group explained.

In their possession, 1.5 kg of cocaine, 800 grams of cannabis, 1.5 kg of white powder, other kinds of drugs, plastic bags and 2 bottles of liquid substance were found.

According to Lieutenant Belibi Onana of the Douala Gendarmerie territorial group, the consumption of these drugs is harmful to health.
“ Those who consume these hard drugs are exposed to several health issues. It can lead to hallucinations, lack of sleep and loss of appetite which can affect the heart leading to heart attacks and even death”.

The suspected drug dealers aged between 32 and 35 have been presented to the public and Gendarmerie officials are encouraging the public to report suspected cases in order to put an end to the sale and consumption of hard drugs in Douala.
