Health ministry says covid19 test no longer compulsory for travellers

The Minister of public health Manaouda Malachie has declared that Covid 19 tests are no longer compulsory for those leaving the country.

The information was contained in a release he addressed to the transport minister, Jean Ernest Massena Ngale Bibehe.

According to the official, PCR tests will only be required of the traveller’s country of destination requires one.

The release also highlighted that for travellers coming into the country it is still an obligation to present a negative PCR test which must be less than 72 hours old or a complete Covid vaccination card.

According to the health boss, the epidemological situation of covid 19 in the country this year was marked by a long period of calm from February to July 2022 and there has been a steady decline in cases since the 34th epidemological week which went from August 22-28 August 2022.”

However he concluded saying, a response mechanism is kept “on alert” in order to detect and deal with possible new cases in the country.
