Disgruntle football stakeholders accuse CAF and FIFA of protecting Samuel Eto’o

By Stephen TADAHA

A college some football stakeholders with some recently reinstated into their functions by the Court of Arbitration for Sports say the African Football Federation should not be hideouts for some group of lawless persons who are protected by FIFA and CAF.

The College of Personalities is made up of Gen Pierre Semengue, Faustin Domkeu, Henri Njalla Quan Junior, Joseph Fetcheu, Henri Claude Mballa, Abdouraman Hamadou, Pierre Ndjili Ndengue, Guibai Gatama and François Kuedem, in an open letter to FIFA and CAF presidents at the start of the week, condemned what they described as impartiality noticed in the treatment of Samuel Eto’o at the helm of FECAFOOT by the two football powerhouses.

The group of disgruntled officials accused FIFA and CAF of being biased and slow in applying the law on Samuel Eto’o whose management of the Cameroon Football Federation, has been marred by allegations worse than those of Mr Luis Rubiales, former president of the Spanish Football Federation who forcefully kissed a player after Spain’s victory at the Women World Cup. Mr Rubiales was forced to resign after the scandal, as judicial procedures were accelerated. A procedure which according to the plaignants, remains on a standby at FECAFOOT.

In listing the allegations from the “found guilty” of the former Lion’s captain by a Spanish court to 22 months imprisonment, through match-fixing scandals, to his engagement with a gambling company, the officials say CAF has remained silent since its outing on August 9, 2023 in which it promised to open investigations on allegations of improper behavior by Samuel Eto’o.

This they say is discrimination done by the football governing bodies in favor of Samuel Eto’o.
